Waste area

Total area
Total sq ft = Base sq ft × (1 + waste % ÷ 100) Mirrors the worked example from our Roofing Waste Factor guide: a 50-square roof at 15% waste orders 50 × 1.15 = 57.5 squares.

Total squares = Total sq ft ÷ 100 One roofing square = 100 sq ft (roofing industry standard unit — not the 9 sq ft square-yard conversion used elsewhere on this site).
